Olivia Schmid was born in Jacksonville, Florida and studied dance at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts under the direction of Phyllis Penney, and received additional training from Linda Jenkins and Mayra Fernandez. In 2013 Olivia was named a National Achievement Scholar and was awarded the President’s Scholarship at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where she completed a BFA in Dance Performance. While attending SMU Olivia performed works by Adam Hougland, George Balanchine, and Martha Graham. She has attended intensives with Northwest Dance Project, Kegwin + Company, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance. In 2015 Olivia was named an SMU Engaged Learning Fellow and attended the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Dance and Music, where she was mentored by Myra Woodruff. Since joining Spectrum Dance Theater in 2017, Olivia has performed in the Occurrence series, Iolanta, and H.R.3244. Olivia is currently in her second season as an apprentice with Spectrum Dance Theater.
