Nile Ruff

Nile Alicia Ruff is from Washington D.C.’s “Chocolate City.” They grew up dancing West African Dance with Kankouran West African Dance Company and Coyaba Dance Theatre, attended the Jones-N-Haywood School of Ballet, and eventually trained at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts for high school. Nile graduated with a BFA from Point Park University under the direction of Garfield Lemonius. There they performed works by Martha Graham, José Limón, Christopher Huggins, and Robert Battle, among others. Nile also trained at the Taylor School, Complexions Academy, Lines Ballet, Washington Ballet, The Ailey School, and the Cunningham Workshops. During their professional career, Nile has danced with Deeply Rooted Dance Theatre, Attack Theatre, and the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company. This is Nile’s first season with Spectrum Dance Theater and they are so grateful to be here!
