Sixteen years into the 21st century, the degrading institution of slavery continues to exist through-out the world. But today it has a new name – Human Trafficking. Trafficking in persons is a modern form of slavery and it is the largest manifestation of slavery today. Trafficking in persons is no less brutal or morally repugnant than the historical slavery suffered by people of African descent here in America. This new work will seek to create some awareness of this issue and its scope, and in particular to draw parallels to historical black slavery here in the United States. It will alert us to the grim reality that human trafficking occurs not just in far off countries and foreign lands, but here in the U.S. as well.
