The mission of The School of Spectrum Dance Theater and Community Outreach Programs is to provide expert dance instruction in diverse dance forms to all and to educate the community about dance as an art form and as a social/civic instrument.

Spectrum’s Community Outreach Programs provide dance classes, access, education and services that contribute to the health and well-being of the community at large.

Outreach Programs

DANCE SPEAK is a new 7-week program for youth ages 8-18 who want to discover the power of dance to communicate like no other medium can. Participants will learn essentials of contemporary dance from Spectrum Dance Theater Artists including how to move skillfully, collaborate with peers, and create their own expressive dance.



REACH is an intensive dance workshop for students ages 11 – 15, offered in two independent 8-week sessions. Participants collaborate with local dance artists to create and perform new pieces of choreography, culminating in a performance on stage at McCaw Hall.

Dance for Parkinsons
Seattle Theatre Group offers dance classes for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease and their caregivers in Seattle, Kirkland, Des Moines, Issaquah and Lynnwood, Washington.
