Movement with Your Toddler - ages 18 months to 3 years:
Exploring movement together with your child in a fun and creative environment is what this class is about. A variety of age appropriate dance games, stories, props, and music add to the fun and learning. Class meets one time per week.
Creative Dance - Ages 3 to 4 years:
Through dance games, dance stories, and fun dance exercises, students will explore movement concepts, develop dance skills, strengthen their bodies, and have a whole lot of fun! Class meets one time per week
Creative Tap I – ages 3 to 4 years:
Basic tap technique is taught while exploring movement concepts in a fun, nurturing, and structured environment. Tap shoes are required. Class meets one time per week.
Creative Tap II – ages 5 to 7 years:
Basic tap technique is taught while exploring movement concepts in a fun, nurturing, and structured environment. Tap shoes are required. Class meets one time per week.
Intermediate Tap – youth:
Pre-requisite, two years of beginning tap. A challenging and fun technique class for students progressing from beginning level tap. Tap shoes required. Class meets one time per week.
Advanced Tap – youth:
Pre-requisite, two years year of intermediate tap experience. An advanced technique class for students progressing from intermediate. Class emphasizes musicality, footwork, and
Pre-Ballet - ages 5-7 years:
Exploring Ballet skills and technique through fun dance games, dance stories, and simple barre work, makes learning Ballet more accessible to the very young dancers. Ballet shoes, leotard, and pink tights are required. Class meets one time per week.
Ballet I-VII:
Exercises done at the barre develop strength, coordination, flexibility, balance, alignment, and musicality. Stretches are given at each level to develop increased flexibility in legs and hips for better turn out and higher extensions. From basic ballet directions and positions in the beginning levels to long adagios, complicated jumps, multiple turns, and pirouettes in the upper levels the students progress through the ballet levels at a pace that is age and level appropriate. Students are required to take each level at least two years unless approved by the instructor and school director. Classes are taught in a supportive and nurturing learning environment. Placement is required for levels II-VII.
Class meets:
Ballet I: One time per week
Ballet II & III: Two times per week
Ballet IV & V: Three times per week
Ballet VI: Four times per week
Ballet VII: Five times per week
Pre-Jazz – ages 7 to 9 years:
This class for beginners teaches the very basic steps of jazz dance. It combines the excitement of jazz movement with the development of basic jazz technique. Black jazz shoes, black jazz pants, and a leotard are required. Class meets one time per week
Jazz I-III - youth:
These classes from beginning to advanced levels teach technique, musicality, alignment, flexibility and control. As students advance through the levels they will learn short and simple jazz combinations in the beginning levels and move up to longer, more advanced combinations that focus on complex steps, multiple pirouettes, expression, and performance skills. Black Jazz shoes, black Jazz pants, and a leotard are required. Placement is required for Jazz I-III. Students stay at each level for two years unless approved by instructor. Class meets one time per week. Ballet is highly recommended when taking Jazz classes.
Contemporary – ages 12 and up:
Class consists of several modern styles including Limon, Cunningham, Graham, and Taylor. Emphasis is on cultivating sound basic technique, spatial awareness, weight shift, floor work, as well as self-expression through movement. Principles learned complement and build on other forms of training including ballet and Jazz. Additionally, contemporary improvisation, choreography and partnering are explored. Class meets one time per week. Dress in Jazz pants and or leggings and a fitted shirt. No Shoes.
Teen Hip Hop - ages 12 and up:
This 60 minute funky class will leave you wanting more. Class includes a warm-up and stretching then moves to the latest and greatest moves. Popular music used (edited versions). Wear clothes you can move in and sneakers (no mid-drifts please).
Breakdance - ages 8 to 12:
Learn the fundamentals of Breakdance to clean funky music.
African Dance – all levels welcome!
Join this fun and energetic class with Lora Lue Chiorah Dye. Students of all levels will leave each day revitalized and amazed at what they accomplished! Wear comfortable clothes you can move in.
Brazilian Samba – all levels welcome!
Learn traditional dances from Brazil in this high energy and fun class! Wear comfortable clothes you can move in.
