Spectrum Dance Theater returns to The Moore Theatre in March with a cheeky prat-fall down the rabbit hole of contemporary Africa. Using a kaleidoscopic mixture of dance, music, spoken words and gripping imagery, Artistic Director Donald Byrd plumbs the complexities of modern Africa in an evening of dance|theater that will defy the status quo as it entertains and challenges audiences. The Mother of Us All is the third piece in Spectrum Dance Theater’s groundbreaking initiative Beyond Dance: Promoting Awareness and Mutual Understanding (PAMU). The PAMU projects use dance, movement, language and music to examine issues relating to personal liberty, freedom, security, and social justice. Through this initiative, Spectrum Dance Theater asks you to heighten your awareness of critically important global issues, and explore their impact and relevance through art.
